Course Description
Empirical Research Methods are not only used to test theories in political science or public administration but are similarly employed in many other applications that require the collection of data for planning purposes of different kinds. For all these applications the theoretical foundations, research logic and the specific details of data collection and handling techniques used remain the same.
This lecture provides a thorough introduction to research logic and its application for practical research projects. Goal of the course is to understand the conceptual foundations of empirical research methods and attain the necessary knowledge to be able to provide sound judgements of empirical research projects.
The structure of the course follows the book by Diekmann 2005.
