Podcast „Richtschnur“: First episode published
With "Richtschnur" the Working Group Political Theory is launching a brand-new podcast project at the University of Konstanz. It starts with the first episode on the topic "Climate Ethics: Responsibility".
Podcast “Richtschnur”
What does populism do to a democracy? What is deliberation? Do we need more consensus or more dissent in our society? What is climate justice? Who is responsible for doing something about climate change? How does solidarity work in a democratic society?
In our podcast Richtschnur, we look from the perspective of political theory at current socio-political issues that affect us all. We discuss a wide variety of topics with our guests and would like to offer our listeners a guideline (in German: Richtschnur) in this way. In concrete terms, this means that we provide food for thought and arguments with our podcast - "thinking through" the topic and forming your own opinion is, of course, up to you.
First episode: Climate ethics - responsibility
The consequences of the climate crisis can only be seen in the Arctic and in Africa? No way! We start the first episode of the podcast "Richtschnur" with a look right outside our front door: Can you already see the first traces of man-made climate change at Lake Constance?
We talk about ethics and morality, explain the “tragedy of the commons”-problem and discuss the question of moral responsibility for the climate crisis. Can generations that didn't even cause climate change still be held responsible? How can we deal with the dilemma that we can only hold those who caused the climate crisis accountable to a limited extent? At the same time, it is imperative to do something now!
