LakeMUN2024:
A successful debut in Konstanz

On 17th - 19th of May, students from our department organized the first major Model United Nations (MUN) conference in the history of our city. Model United Nations (MUN) are simulations of the United Nations in which students take on the roles of diplomats. This year, almost 170 participants took part to discuss social nd political topics. The participants were able to relax and network during an evening together at the water sports centre. The successful conclusion of the MUN was celebrated with a Diplomatic Ball. You can find a detailed report here. If you are interested in planning the next Model United Nations (MUN) in Konstanz, please contact nazan.elhadidi@uni-konstanz.de.

Politics and Public Administration - Our Mission - Our Research

The Department of Politics and Public Administration at the University of Konstanz is one of the largest social science departments in Germany. We are recognized for excellent research and teaching in four areas of expertise: (i) democracy and public policy, (ii) international studies (iii) management and public administration, as well as (iv) data and methods. We place our students in top positions in academia, and the public, private and non-profit sectors – in Germany, Europe and worldwide.

Prof. Dr. Florian Kunze and the Konstanz home office study in the media: The obligation to return from the home office has only been introduced by a fifth of companies and has a negative impact on employee stress levels

In contrast to the prevailing public debate of recent months, which suggests that many companies have introduced a stronger obligation for employees to be present, data from the Konstanz home office study by Prof. Dr. Florin Kunze and his team show that this is only the case in a minority of 22 percent of companies. It is clear that stress and exhaustion are almost twice as high among employees who are subject to a greater presence obligation (21 per cent without presence obligation and 38 per cent with presence obligation) than among employees without presence obligation. This makes it clear that the health and stress of employees in particular should be taken into account when deciding in favour of compulsory attendance.

Broad coverage of the latest results of the Konstanz home office study by German media can be found here:

Deutschlandfunk - Wirtschaftsgespräch: Home office - come to stay

Tagesschau - Konstanz study: Working from home is healthier than working in the office
