In Memoriam Monika Schäfer
On 6 August 2024, our former colleague Ms Monika Schaefer passed away at the age of 82. Ms Schaefer was the first Erasmus Coordinator at the Department and worked at the University of Konstanz for almost 30 years.
Ms Schaefer can be regarded as one of the founders of the European Erasmus network. With great commitment, she set up the first local cooperation networks, which later developed into a larger, Europe-wide network, which still exists and does valuable work. In 2000, she received the prestigious HRK Award, presented by the Federal Minister of Education, Edelgard Bulmahn.
We keep her in loving memory and appreciate all the valuable work she has done for European student exchange.
