Dr. Jana Gómez Díaz

Postdoctoral Researcher

Jana Gómez Díaz is a postdoctoral researcher at the Working Group on Public Administration.

Previously, Jana served as a pre-doctoral researcher at the Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (IBEI), contributing to the EU Horizon 2020 project ‘Trust in Governance and Regulation in Europe’ (TiGRE). Beyond academia, she has practical experience as a policy advisor at the German Parliament in Berlin.

Jana holds a PhD in Political Sciences from Pompeu Fabra University. In her doctoral dissertation, she analyzed the intricacies of trust dynamics in public policy-making, with a specific focus on the role of specialized agencies in shaping trust among actors within the regulatory regime.

She also holds a Research Master’s in Political Science from Pompeu Fabra University, a Master’s in Politics and Public Administration from the University of Konstanz and a Bachelor’s degree in European Studies from the University of Passau.

Research

Jana's research revolves around themes associated with the regulatory regime. In a broad sense, she explores the dynamics of interactions among various actors within the regulatory regime, including legislators, regulators, judiciaries, citizens, and different stakeholders, and investigates their repercussions. Her work encompasses the examination of welfare service provision towards mobile EU workers in several European countries. Additionally, Jana delves into trust dynamics in public policy-making, with a specific emphasis on the influence of specialized agencies in shaping trust among actors within the regulatory regime. She also explores the reasons behind and consequences of overburdened bureaucracies.
