Dr. Andrea Lailach-Hennrich

I was born and raised in East Berlin and studied and graduated in Philosophy and German Literature at the Humboldt University. In 2009 I obtained a PhD in Philosophy. My thesis titled “Ich und die Anderen. Zu den intersubjektiven Bedingungen von Selbstbewusstsein” was published in 2011 with DeGruyter. From 2010 to 2013 I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Humboldt University of Berlin and at the University of Stuttgart before I received a fellowship at the Zukunftskolleg Konstanz. Since 2018 I teach Political Theory as an interim professor at the Department of Politics and Public Administration. I am also the chairwoman of the association for philosophy and psychology.

My main focus of research within the field of political theory is the development of a theory of political experience. This includes the significance of social identities (gender, race and class) and the role of recognition for our self-concept as political beings. In particular I ask how and in what way the mental faculty of imagination is relevant for political experience.
