Dr. Abena Yalley

Dr. Abena Yalley, Postdoctoral Fellow at the Zukunftskolleg, Department of Literature, Arts and Media Studies. Abena obtained her PhD in Gender Studies in the University of Ibadan, Nigeria and masters degree in Development and International Cooperation from the University of Jyvaskyla, Finland. Prior to her Postdoctoral fellowship, she was a recipient of the prestegious ECOWAS Fellowhip for young African scholars. Her research broadly focuses on gender inequalities, violence against women, masculinity, policing domestic violence, African feminism and development, migration, and security in Sub-Saharan Africa. In the past few years, she has been focussing on researching violence within healthcare systems - obstetric violence.
